Relative accused of murdering 3-year-old

The little girl started vomiting on Friday, March 11, and then died

Police are investigating a case of murder after three-year-old Asemahle Ntshalintshali’s death on Thursday, March 11.

According to a relative, Asemahle ate snacks and then went to bed the previous night at her home in the Matiwaneskop area.

The little girl started vomiting the next day and then died.

Elandslaagte police station initially opened an inquest docket. There were no visible injuries on the girl’s body, so no foul play was suspected at that stage.

A medical examination revealed that the child had internal blood clots in her head and kidneys. An intensive investigation established that Asemahle had been severely assaulted and had sustained internal injuries.

The inquest docket was then changed to murder.

A 19-year-old suspect, who is a relative, was placed under arrest on murder charges.
