Pothole saga in Shepstone Road continues…

According to Cllr Sharon Buys, this situation dates back to 2019

Potholes in Shepstone Road have left motorists fuming.

According to Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor Sharon Buys, this particular pothole saga dates back to 2019.

The huge craters in the road fill up with water that is ankle-deep.

This is a busy road that is used by motorists on a daily basis.

Cllr Buys says she reported the matter to Alfred Duma Local Municipality, only to be informed that it is not their responsibility. The councillor says she was told it is near Mkhamba Primary School, therefore making it a Department of Public Works problem.

the potholes in Shepstone Road.

This road is made more dangerous by the fact that it is used by learners who walk to school. In trying to avoid the potholes, motorists are forced to swerve to the side of the road; they could hit a child in the process.

Cllr Buys adds that residents living in the area want Shepstone Road to be properly tarred and the drainage system improved so that water doesn’t stand in puddles.

At the time of publishing, the municipality had not commented on the matter.
