Municipal security guards lock staff outside
The municipality says the matter is now out of their hands
The security guards at Alfred Duma Local Municipality locked all workers and officials outside the municipal building this morning (March 10).
The security guards’ contracts ended and they are demanding to have their contracts renewed.
Police are currently on scene to ensure that no violence breaks out.
Municipal spokesperson Siyabonga Maphalala commented that the matter was taken to court three years ago by the guards, and their contracts were extended.
