Road rage results in shooting

The driver of the Hilux 'disappeared' from the scene.

A shooting occurred this afternoon (February 14) on the corner of Republiek and Utrecht streets. According to eyewitnesses, the drivers of a Hilux bakkie and a red Volkswagen Golf had an altercation over bad driving. The incident of ‘road rage’ culminated in the driver of the Golf pulling out a gun and firing shots at the other driver before speeding off in the direction of the Vryheid Dialysis Centre. The driver of the Hilux ‘disappeared’ from the scene. Resident Ken Taylor saw what happened and gave chase while informing security companies, as well as the police. The driver who fired the shots is currently in police custody. No one was injured in the shooting.
