VRYHEID KZN: Police confiscate illegal firearms in Ulundi and Babanango

Three suspects recently appeared in the Mahlabathini and Babanango Magistrate’s Court facing charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. This after the Zululand District Task Team, Ulundi SAPS Trio Crime Task Team, Ulundi Public Order Policing Task Team and Ulundi K9 Unit embarked on an intelligence-driven operation targeting illegal firearms. Information led the team to Esikhaleni, KwaMvula in Ulundi and KwaZiqongwana in Babanango, where they found a 9mm pistol, .38 Special revolver, Norinco Star pistol and 28 rounds of ammunition. The firearms will be profiled to establish if they are linked to other cases which were reported in the Zululand District. The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing.
