MEC hosts dialogue on Amakhosi and Izinduna killings

From 2019, five Amakhosi and 23 Izinduna have been killed

MEC for Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs Sipho Hlomuka held an Imbizo yesterday (November 25) concerning the Amakhosi and Izinduna killings. The MEC met with the traditional leadership from Amajuba, Uthukela and Umzinyathi at the Civic Hall. 

The focus was on finding the root cause of the Amakhosi and Izinduna killings and also to find possible solutions.

During his speech, the MEC emphasised the seriousness of this issue. He said that as from 2019, five Amakhosi and 23 Izinduna have been killed. 

The police and Department of Safety & Liaison were also part of the dialogue.

Previously, on September 23, the MEC held a provincial meeting where Amakhosi and Izinduna engaged at provincial level concerning challenges faced by traditional leadership.
