Ladysmith KZN: Illing Road taxi rank a health risk

Foul-smelling sewage has been flooding the area

Those who frequent the lower CBD say that the Illing Road taxi rank is becoming a pigsty and is hazardous to people’s health. Since the beginning of the week, sewage has been flooding the area. An unpleasant smell has engulfed the whole taxi rank, with some people seen holding their noses in disgust.

Mr Sanele Kubheka, who is a rank manager falling under the Klipriver Taxi Association, said this puts their health at risk, more especially because they spend the whole day at the rank. “Our food is cooked here and we eat here. Our working environment is not acceptable at all!”
