Ladysmith KZN: Icy chill sets in…

Rainfall is expected over the central interior of the country

Two winter systems making landfall this week will impact on the weather conditions extending into the weekend.

A cold front made landfall yesterday (August 12), bringing rainy and bitterly cold weather conditions, along with snow on the high-lying areas.

A second system developing today (August 13) over the western interior will cause wintry conditions to persist over the southern parts of the country.

The system is expected to deliver rainfall over the central interior, which is a relatively uncommon occurrence for this time of year.

Thunderstorms may become severe, resulting in large amounts of small hail, as well as snowfall over the northern high-lying areas of the Eastern Cape and Drakensberg mountains.
