MOOI RIVER KZN: Three arrested in hijacked vehicle at Toll Plaza

The trio is allegedly linked to robberies, kidnapping and hijackings in Gauteng

Acting on information regarding the travel route of a group of men suspected to be involved in a spate of crimes; police were stationed at the Mooi River Toll Plaza and arrested three men.

The trio that is allegedly linked to robberies, kidnapping and hijackings in Gauteng were arrested on August 3.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele explains: “It was reported that the suspects were travelling in a vehicle with cloned registration plates from Gauteng to KwaZulu-Natal. An operational team from various units in the police was mobilised and they were deployed at the Mooi River Toll Plaza. The said vehicle was spotted proceeding on the southbound lane towards the toll plaza. The suspects’ path of travel was blocked by police officers and they were searched.”

The suspects, aged between 25 and 29 were arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property. They appeared in the Mooi River Magistrates Court on August 4.

Colonel Mbele said that investigations into their alleged involvement in other crimes are being pursued.
