Ladysmith KZN: Driefontein road becoming an illegal dumping site

Residents say that vehicles coming from the Driefontein side are dumping rubbish in this area

Residents of farms along the Driefontein road (P189) are fed up watching their area becoming a dumping site. They say it’s vehicles travelling from the Driefontein side that are dumping rubbish in this area.

There are two spots that have become dumping sites. The first one is near the railway bridge, from the N11, and the other is before Rietfontein Farm.

Angry resident Mr Dave Scott from Rietfontein Farm said, “This is disgusting! This thing began with a white bakkie that came from the Driefontein side, with a lot of rubbish bags that were dumped here along the road. Our neighbour has tried to seek help from the municipality, but just after they clean up the place, these people start all over again,” said Mr Scott.
