NEWCASTLE KZN: R7 500 reward offered for the return of stolen motorcycle

Information received about the stolen bike will be treated with the utmost discretion.

On April 26, residents Robert Roelofse and Beverley Vermeulen were left stunned when they awoke to find their motorcycles had been stolen from their yard in Pioneer Park.

The couple immediately took to social media to inform other residents of what had occurred and to request assistance in locating the bikes.

The couple also offered a R7 500 reward if the criminals and bikes could be found.

Sergio Vermeulen, Beverly’s son, claims his mother and her partner went to bed knowing their motorcycles were safely parked behind locked gates.

ā€œThat next morning, Robert woke up and needed to go to the shops to buy a few things. His gates were still locked and everything seemed normal until he realised his bikes were missing,ā€ explained Vermeulen.

On further investigation, the family discovered that an entire part of their pre-cast wall had been removed.

The wall through which the suspects gained entry to the property.

ā€œWe rapidly searched the veld and discovered one of the bikes hidden under a layer of grass and leaves. Obviously, the offenders intended to return for the bike,ā€ he said.

However, the second motorcycle, a black and grey 2001 Suzuki GSK R1000 is still missing.

“There’s a R7 500 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s), and a R5 000 reward if only the bike is returned,” Vermeulen explained.

Vermeulen is now advising other motorcyclists to be conscious of their surroundings and to take extra precautions to ensure the safety of their bikes and their homes.

ā€œWe believe motorcycle thefts have resumed in full force, and we hope that no one else becomes a victim of these crimes,ā€ he concluded.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Sergio Vermelen on 060 650 1973 or Graham Walsh on 083 694 3272. All information will be treated with the utmost discretion.
