Ladysmith KZN: Search and Rescue officers hunt for missing senior citizen

Warrant Officer Meyer, Sergeant Holloway and sniffer dog Ira searched the area in which the missing man was last seen

Police Search & Rescue officers from Ladysmith and Newcastle went in search of a missing senior citizen in Ladysmith earlier today (March 27).

Warrant Officer Jacques Meyer from the Ladysmith K9 Unit and Sergeant Holloway from the Newcastle K9 Unit, with the help of search and rescue dog Ira, looked for 73-year-old Mr Dharamraj ‘Boya’ Pala.

Boya is missing and was last seen on Saturday, March 20, near Percy’s Butchery in Kandahar Avenue.

W/O Meyer, Sgt Holloway and Ira searched where Boya was last seen and even walked along the side of the river in Kandahar Avenue, combing the entire area, but there was no trace of the missing senior citizen.

Even with the help of the sniffer dog, who is well trained in picking up the scent of a human or the body of a deceased person, the search was unsuccessful.
