COLENSO KZN: Couple gunned down in their home

The slain couple’s child managed to escape the murderous rampage while hiding in another bedroom

A nine-year-old child is the only survivor after a group of armed men stormed into a homestead and killed two people last night (February 19).

The couple, aged 38 and 48, were killed in their home at about 9pm when six unknown suspects arrived at residence in Gomba, Colenso.

The armed suspects forced the door open and began firing shots at the pair.

“Some of suspects opened fire through the windows of the home. Both people died on scene after they were shot several times with rifles and pistols,” said police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi.

The slain couple’s child managed to escape the murderous rampage while hiding in another bedroom.

When Colenso police arrived on scene, they found several spent cartridges on scene.

“Colenso police opened two murder dockets and investigation on-going. No arrests have been made. Police are requesting anyone who can assist with information regarding this incident to contact them on 086-001-0111,” added Captain Nyathi.
