Ladysmith KZN: Spioenkop Dam stands at over 100%

Fishermen and nature lovers alike are loving the fact that the dam is so full

If you haven’t been to Spioenkop Dam recently, you have surely missed a spectacular sight, as the dam is full and overflowing.

The recent rains that fell over the festive period in the catchment area brought the dam’s percentage from around 80% to over 100%!

The current level of Spioenkop Dam is 102.1%.

Driel Barrage is 93.4%, Wagendrift Dam 102.8% and Woodstock Dam 83.2%.

The lowest dam in the KZN region is Albert Falls, which is on 33.5%.

Fishermen and nature lovers alike are loving the fact that Spioenkop is so full; it hasn’t looked this great in a long-time. One fisherman commented that the sight of the water going over the dam wall was just amazing and something he won’t forget in a while.
