ESTCOURT KZN: Frustration mounts as R103 is closed by protestors
Alternative routes to get into Estcourt are the Wembezi or Loskop off-ramps
Dozens of people have been thrown off their schedule as protest action saw the R103 being completely closed.
This morning (November 27) dozens of protestors blocked off the R103 near Eskort Limited and Mimosadale. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKXSK_wa7hs Health care workers from Estcourt Hospital were stranded and one questioned “we can’t get to our patients, must they die because of this protest?” Burning tyres, large tree branches and rocks are blocking off the R103 near Midway, effectively shutting off entry to motorists via this route. Alternative routes to get into Estcourt are the Wembezi or Loskop off-ramps. It is reported that protestors are incensed about the employment process applied during an Eskom project.

A group of protestors has since made their way to Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality to vent their frustrations. The Estcourt News has engaged with the local municipality to provide answers regarding concerns from the protestors, no response has been received.
