ESTCOURT: Man arrested with suspected stolen property in Albert Street

When police arrived at the scene, they found the man carrying a box containing sweetcorn weighing 1.5kg

The Estcourt Station Commander, Colonel Mazibuko, has praised efforts by police and an informant after a man was arrested with suspected stolen property recently.

Police received a tip-off about a man who was suspected to have stolen property from Albert Street.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the man carrying a box containing sweetcorn weighing 1.5kg.

“The officers questioned him about the property he was carrying and he told them it belonged to his friend. He failed to take the police to his friend and was arrested,” explained police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi.

The 49-year-old has been charged and police are investigating the case.
