Ladysmith KZN: Viral video of truck driver dodging bullets

Truck ambush in Ladysmith area caught on camera

A video clip of a truck driver saving himself by ducking under a hail of bullets has been making the rounds on social media and has gone viral.

It is believed that the incident happened between uMhlumayo and the Ezakheni road.

The video has been spoken about on radio and even TV.

SA Trucker published the video on their Facebook page to show just what traumatic experiences truck drivers experience at the hands of vicious criminals on our country’s roads.

A Ladysmith Gazette reporter conducted an interview with an administrator from SA Trucker, who confirmed that the incident happened in the Ladysmith area.

“I have not been able to trace the driver. Indeed the incident did occur in the Ladysmith area, but that’s all I know,” said the administrator.

This follows another incident where a truck was set alight along the Pieters road near the Helpmekaar intersection on August 5.

Regarding the torching of the truck, Ladysmith police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi said that a company truck was travelling along the Pieters road when the driver noticed two males emerging from the bush. One of them threw a rock at the truck’s windscreen.

The driver jumped out and hid in the bush.

All attempts to get comment from Ladysmith police regarding the ‘shooting video’ were in vain.
