Ladysmith: Man struck and killed by train in Smartiesville
CPR and advanced life support interventions were initiated to revive the patient
Ladysmith KZN: A 69-year-old man was killed late Wednesday night (September 9) after being hit by a train near Smartiesville in Ladysmith.
ER24 paramedics, along with KwaZulu Natal EMS, arrived at the scene just before 10pm to find an elderly man lying next to the tracks. He had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.
The patient was treated and provided with advanced life support interventions before being rushed to Ladysmith Provincial Hospital for urgent care.

En-route to the hospital, the patient’s vital signs rapidly diminished. CPR and further advanced life support interventions were initiated to revive the patient.
The man succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
