uThukela raises Covid-19 awareness in Weenen

As the coronavirus (Covid-19) continues to evolve and ravage our country day-in / day-out, uThukela District Municipality is taking a proactive approach to help ensure the safety of our community.

The district is working closely with a variety of stakeholders, which include local and provincial healthcare entities, to closely monitor the situation and provide necessary information about the pandemic in all areas.

They visited Weenen (under Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality) to raise Covid-19 awareness.
This programme aims to ensure that our vulnerable communities are aware of the situation we all are facing and ensure that people are protected against the spread of the virus.

The team distributed informative pamphlets to community members about the importance of washing your hands regularly and social distancing, but most importantly to stay at home.

During the campaign, people were encouraged to take the danger of the coronavirus seriously.

It was emphasised that one of the ways to protect oneself against this contagious disease is by wearing a mask.
In some areas, low education levels limit the access to information, and denial makes it difficult for government to control the rapid spread of the virus.
