Gift of the Givers is helping beyond local borders

The Gift of the Givers Estcourt office expanded its Covid-19 disaster management and hunger alleviation programme into the uThukela District recently.

“We distributed 300 large food parcels and hygiene packs in total. These included 10kg of rice, maize meal and blankets, among other things. This was done in three areas. First was Ladysmith, then Roosboom and lastly we stopped in Colenso. We were assisted by Shireen Voorajee, who is a volunteer in Ladysmith,” explained Jaaved Khan from the local Gift of the Givers office.

In Roosboom, the team was accompanied by Operation Sukuma Sakhe community liaison officer Busi Madonsela and Mr Hlatshwayo (uThukela District disaster management).

In Colenso, Ladysmith Deputy Mayor Thuli Hadebe, as well as Captain Johnson and his team from the SAPS, assisted with the distribution.
