This was in response to repeated enquiries from the Estcourt News regarding the plan and progress of pothole patching, gutter cleaning and verge trimming.

With regards to potholes, Mr Mkhize says that since December 2, approximately 40m² of road patching has been completed.

“Great emphasis is being given to the Estcourt central business district (CBD).”

The areas he listed include the intersection at Albert and Phillip Street, Victoria Street and Loskop Road.

A ‘pothole and gutter cleaning plan for January’ was also submitted and lists road patching, surface repairs, back-filling, as well as cleaning and unblocking of drains.  According to the plan, drain cleaning and road patching will continue this week.

Mr Mkhize was also asked to reveal the budget allocated for road repairs, as well as detail the plans for the budget. However, no reply was given to these questions.  There was also no response to questions about verge trimming and grass cutting.
