Meet the Vryheid Herald’s new reporter, Carlien Grobler
Passionate about writing , she has her own blog called Gin in a teacup and is related to famous Afrikaans poet , DJ Opperman.
Carlien Grobler is a new face to Vryheid and is now the news face of the Vryheid Herald.
Carlien will be replacing Sinethemba Thwala as a journalist at the paper, after Sine moved on to pastures new. Formerly from Dundee, Carlien recently moved to Vryheid after her Husband ,Riaan was appointed manager of the local branch of Standard Bank.
Passionate about writing , she has her own blog called Gin in a teacup and is related to famous Afrikaans poet , DJ Opperman. Carlien aims to bring more Afrikaans articles to the newspaper and hopes to help make a difference in the community. “I’m easy to get on with and people open up to me. Plus I love interacting with people, so I am well suited for the job”.
She will be working alongside Elaine Doherty-Bigara Rodway to bring you the news you should know from the area.Bright and bubbly, Carlien has a way with words and people, and hopes to use these to be the eyes and ears of the community.
