Gemeenskap staan saam by die Paddadam Markdag

Fun at the Paddadam Market

Underpinning the event was an urgent plea made byVryheid SPCA, which prompted AbaQulusi SuperSpar and Nissan Vryheid to match each bag of dog food donated by the public. The community of Vryheid responded by generously donating bags of food at the Market Day.
At the end of the day’s proceedings, 500 kilograms of dog food, 58kg of cat food and three cat litter trays were donated towards the SPCA at an estimated value of R6 000.
“A huge shout-out to the Vryheid community. You have big hearts and can accept a challenge,” were the words of representatives of Nissan Vryheid and AbaQulusi SuperSpar.
An upcoming singer from Eshowe, Martin Grobler provided live entertainment at the event.
Children could ride on a mini train, have their faces painted or play on the jungle gym. Guests of all ages enjoyed various treats, from hamburgers and Indian delights to homemade biscuits and rusks.
For those with green fingers, there were succulent plants and miniature trees to purchase and vendors gave out handy tips for those who struggle to keep even succulents alive.
The market’s latest theme was Late Spring, with prizes awarded to the stall best fitting this theme. Organiser, Marlize Harmse said the turnout at the event was great and commented: “This market is about community supporting community.”
