With the approaching warmer, wetter months, Angela Keyter fears that some parts of Albert and Victoria streets may experience flooding.

Recently, Mrs Keyter pointed out her concerns about a gate that has been erected inside an apartment complex in Victoria Street.  The gate is built over an existing stormwater drain and this is where Mrs Keyter fears the problem lies.

“Litter and debris will get stuck to the gate and once we experience heavy rainfall, this will cause a blockage in the storm water drain, resulting in flooding,” she explained.

Seeing that the gate is within private property, Mrs Keyter approached a family that lives there.

“They told me they were also unaware of who erected the gate, so I turned to the local municipality and conveyed my concerns. However, I have had no response yet,” she added.

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality was made aware of the issue. However, no response had been received at the time of going to print.
