IEC officials reported that things were running very smoothly at these voting stations.

Issues such as more job opportunities and better roads were among the main concerns community members in Bhekuzulu and Sasko hoped to see being addressed after the elections.

“We need to see more job opportunities being created for our children. People are unemployed, that is why we have such a big crime issue in Vryheid. I arrived at around 6:40 AM to cast my vote here today because I know exactly what I want and which party will give that to me,” said Nompumelelo Sikhosana from the Sasko area.

The voting station at KwaBhanya High School in the Emadoshini area was among the busiest during the course of the day with IEC officials claiming that the queue has not had less than 20 people since early this morning.

“Since we opened this morning at 7 AM the queue has been reasonably long. We are glad to report that things are running very smoothly. At around 10:30 AM, we had already seen over 260 casts, people just keep coming in. We haven’t had any problems at all and although the queue is long, things are moving along pretty fast,” said IEC area manager Sandile Mbatha who was helping out at KwaBhanya.
