THE current food shortage at Vryheid SPCA has the struggling NGO in dire straits.

The will to take care of these abandoned dogs and cats remains strong at the SPCA, but the means to do so is dwindling fast.

With food running out and a lack of funding, the future appears bleak for the animals and it’s times like these that the support of the public is crucial.

Trevor Domoney at AbaQulusi Superspar responded swiftly to their cries for help when the pet food first ran out on September 18, donating a 10kg bag of cat litter, a total of 46kg of dog food, 1kg cat food, a box of cat food sachets and a pack of twenty dog treats. A generous donation, but only sufficient to last until Saturday.

If you are willing and able to assist, the Vryheid Herald has opened its doors and welcomes the public to drop off any donations of cat food and dog food at our offices at 183 Heeren Street between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am to 1pm on Fridays.
