Locals keep fit with aerobic marathons at the Wembezi Multipurpose Centre

Locals are stepping up their physical fitness with weekly aero-marathons at the Wembezi Multipurpose Centre.

These aerobic marathons are hosted by the Department of Sport and Recreation and Siyazivocavoca Athletic Club.

This past Saturday morning, fitness fanatics were armed with their water bottles and towels and started out with warm-up stretches.

The moment the rhythmic music was turned on, all the attendees began the exercises in sync, which remained vibrant but grew more intense.

Themba Shabalala from the Sport and Recreation Department who instructs these aero-marathons said: “The aim of these classes is to promote healthier living.”

The class starts off with a few warm-ups and goes into aerobic exercises followed by a physical boot camp and lastly a marathon.

All you have to do to be a part of this is get down to the Wembezi Multipurpose Centre at 5pm on weekdays and 8am on Saturdays, with a water bottle and face towel.
