Estcourt local airs his service delivery concerns

This community is not a playing ground for government because we know how to fight for our rights

All the broken promises in regard to the project taken up by both Human Settlement and the local municipality are very disturbing.

This community is not a playing ground for government because we know how to fight for our rights. Housing is a right guaranteed in the Bill of Rights as contained in the national Constitution and we also know what legal steps to take from now, including going to the Constitutional Court with regard to this because the community is totally not happy with what Sanyathi did to their sites, digging what has become pools of water in their yards.

The state of the roads is very bad and we also know that Sbu Ndebele was in a top position for Sanyathi.

What angers the community most is the promise made by the Mayor last year in August that the first show house will be completed by end of October last year.

She never came back to inform the community if she experienced some problems. She called a meeting where she never allowed even our hard-working councillor Dubazane and councillor Mkhize to ask a single question; meaning that she knew she was not telling the truth.

She had the guts to even come with all her staff, leaving offices empty to come and fool us.She went on to host a sod turning ceremony at the home of MaKhoza Sthole. The Mayor saw the condition of houses and last year there were strong rains and storms and she didn’t care to even come back and check whether the family survived from those unfavourable weather conditions.

The sitting of parliament was in our town last year October and the MEC for Human Settlement Mr Ravi Pillay also made his promises that houses will be built in the next financial year. The question now is who is fooling who here? Who is telling the truth?

This project is to canvas for the next coming elections. They must not forget our eyes are wide open.

The state of the municipality is because of things like this. How can you take all your staff from the municipal offices when you know that you going to lie to people? When you lack public management skills, you will always make mistakes like this because you will fail to read documents correctly and interpret what is in those documents.
WE ARE WATCHING YOU WITH YOUR EMPTY PROMISES. Municipal elections are around the corner.
