Security guard found guilty of murder

31-year-old Mthetheleli Pardon Nene was sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment

The case of a security guard who shot and killed a 30-year-old man at the Ezakheni Plaza shopping centre was recently finalised in court.

The gunshot victim was Ezakheni resident Simphiwe Khuzwayo (30). It is believed that the deceased was trading illegally at the centre at the time.

Police arrested a security guard for the shooting and an investigation was launched.

The case was finalised in the Ezakheni Regional Court on Thursday, October 20.

The accused, 31-year-old Mthetheleli Pardon Nene, was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment for murder. He was also found unfit to possess a firearm.

The case was investigated by Sergeant NP Msimango of Ezakheni Detective Services.
