It was a very joyous day for Inkanyiso Special School on Thursday, June 5, when the Siyakha Education Trust donated 30 computers to the school.

“The computer will be a great asset to the school as learners will now be able to look things up on the computers. They will also be able to learn computer literacy and be equipped with computer skills,” said Mrs Shezi, the school’s principal.

The computers will be used by two creative skills classes in the school.

Along with the computers, two air-conditioners, two projectors, two whiteboards and two printers were donated for the classes.

According to Mrs Shezi, the computers will help them further their goals of creating opportunities for their learners.

“When the children reach the age of 16, they are selected by their Life Orientation (LO) teachers for the Future Finders Program. Here they are streamlined into going out and doing practicals in local businesses. Computers are a very functional part of today’s infrastructure and thus will be very helpful to us,” concluded a very happy Mrs Shezi.

The school was very grateful to Keziah Venter from Siyakha Education Trust who donated the computers and Keith Sparrow from Sparrow Computers, who did the installations with the help of Brett Eichbauer.

The day was filled with song and dance as the children performed for their guests and gave them gifts that they had made in their Arts and Crafts classes to show their appreciation.
