Sarel bids farewell to long serving educator

Mrs Vermaak has been in the education sector for 49 years

Congratulations to the four Sarel Cilliers High School matric learners who progressed to the second round of the Mathematics Olympiad, under the tutelage and guidance of Mrs Ramdayal.

Olwethu Blose, Mariam Khan, Ziphozonke Buthelezi and Thukela Jaji proved to have the necessary skills in what is an extremely tough competition. Well done to these learners!

Sarel Cilliers High School bade a heartfelt farewell to teacher Suzanne Vermaak last Friday.

Mrs Vermaak has been in the education sector for 49 years, the last 19 of those at Sarel Cilliers in the English Department. She has seen many changes in the education system throughout her lengthy career, and offered a wealth of valuable knowledge and experience in her chosen field of learning.

In a brief farewell ceremony held in the school hall, Mrs Vermaak was thanked for her contribution to the school and presented with a gift by the current head boy and head girl.

The school family wishes Mrs Vermaak all the best in her retirement. Lessons for matriculants continue as normal, and students are currently writing their assignments. “We encourage parents to please make use of the school’s Telegram App in order to stay informed of important notices,” said acting principal Y Soobramoney.
