During 2021, Stellantis launched 11 new products into the South African market with another 11 planned for 2022. The Peugeot 2008 has also been awarded and recognised, becoming the 2021 South African Car of the Year while the South African Guild of Mobility Journalists recognised Stellantis as the most admired car company in the country. Its commercial network grew to 78 dealerships representing nine brands (Fiat, Fiat Professional, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Jeep, Opel, Peugeot and Mopar).

One of the best examples of Stellantis’ dealer network infrastructure is in Centurion. Representing all brands, the facility is the first multifranchise dealership for Stellantis. “The standard of our facilities in South Africa is truly world-class. It proves that our customers can enjoy a consistent experience all over the world and Centurion is a standard that all facilities can strive for.

“By end 2022, our growth plans include the opening of a further 10 new facilities across the country.

“Stellantis in South Africa registered a volume growth of 35% in a market that grew by 22%. This is the result of our talented team’s commitment to always serve our customers better, and create a strong commercial network and tailored mobility solutions offering.

“With a proud heritage stretching back 100 years, Stellantis is home to a full portfolio of storied brands that have graced the road and conquered the podium in the world of motorsport.

“Stellantis is the result of combining two strong business entities with diverse backgrounds, wide-ranging talents, and inspiring heritage to create a broad-based platform of iconic brands to exceed customer expectations.

“This is embodied in Stellantis’ new business strategic plan, Dare Forward 2030, announced this month,” said Cherfan. “The plan sets bold targets in terms of employee development, emissions, sales, customer satisfaction and financial results. South Africa has a contributing role to play and has the potential to be in the top five SA motoring companies by 2030.”
