Chic Mamas grandest nomination

LINDEN – Chic Mamas Do Care were recent finalists for a big local award and they could not have been any prouder.

Chic Mamas Do Care Jozi were finalists in the social entrepreneur category at the recently held 2021 Santam Women of the Future Awards.

Though they did not walk away with the big win in their category, the female-led group which is volunteer-based, sells high-quality pre-loved clothing to raise funds for early development centres in various communities.

For them, the win was more about awareness being created by the publicity the nomination brought, as that would be by far the biggest prize they could ask for.

The non-profit organisation was nominated for the Eco-Fashion Award and the organisation could not have been more thrilled to be part of the outstanding group of fellow nominees. For them, the nomination was a huge honour as it shone a light on the work they do as they try to make a difference.

Store manager, Karen Harvey, said they were both humbled and excited to get recognition for the work they did. “We are just passionate about what we do. We are a volunteer-based non-profit with amazing women giving of their time [which we all know is a precious commodity]. The recognition is always a welcome surprise, as it is not our focus.”

This was not the first nomination for the non-profit, having been previously nominated for the Fair Lady/Santam Social Entrepreneur Award.
