Parkview SAPS warns of a rise in theft of gate motors in Emmarentia and Parktown North

PARKTOWN NORTH – Sibeko said that this crime takes place between 22:00 and 5:00 during weekdays and between 12:00 and 22:00 over weekends.

The Parkview Police Station has seen an increase in reports of stolen gate motors at residential premises in the suburbs of Emmarentia and Parktown North.

The spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said that the station had seen an increase in these incidents during the month of June.

“One of the complainants alleged that at about 22:00, he left his residential and business place and everything was in order. But when he returned home the following day and used the remote to open the gate, it was not opening,” said Sibeko.

She explained that the complainant reported to opening the gate manually. When he got inside, he realised that the gate motor and bracket had been stolen.

In a separate incident in Parktown North, the complainant left home at 14:00 and when she arrived back the following morning, she discovered that the gate motor had been stolen.

Sibeko said that this crime takes place between 22:00 and 05:00 during weekdays and between 12:00 and 22:00 over weekends.

“Police urge the community not to buy stolen items from anyone and report any suspicious sales to police.”

Sibeko said the station is investigating the cases.
