Eskom implements Stage 2 load-shedding from 9pm tonight

Eskom said the generation units at Tutuka and Kendal Power stations tripped while a single Komati unit was tripped down.

Eskom has announced that it will be implementing Stage 2 load-shedding from 9pm tonight, 13 April.

The utility said that this is due to the shortage of generation capacity. Stage 2 load-shedding is expected to end at 5am tomorrow morning, 14 April.

“The return to service of a generation unit each at the Kriel, Medupi and the Duvha power stations has been delayed,” added Eskom.

Eskom said it is work to return these units to service as soon as possible, “We will keep the public informed as soon as there is a  significant change in the power system status”.

“We currently have 4 775MW on planned maintenance, while another 12 699MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns and delays,” said Eskom.

Eskom requests the public to continue using electricity sparingly as the system remains vulnerable and unpredictable.
