BRIXTON – Supporting the country's young and talented musicians.

The readers of Northcliff Melville Times have been invited to see the South African National Youth Orchestra (Sanyo) in action on 15 December. They will be presenting their Brixton Baroque which will be led from the keyboard by John Coulter and Erik Dippenaar. Managing director of the orchestra Sophia Welz shared that what one can expect from the show, “This programme goes from mild to wild, and takes our audience on a journey of discovery of the most beautiful and interesting music from the baroque period. Be prepared for a few surprises too.”

The Sanyo Foundation is the leader of the youth orchestral movement in the country, inspiring young musicians to pursue the highest standards of musical performance. The show will also seek to raise funds for the orchestra bursary fund. Welz explained the importance of being able to raise such, “We would like to raise funds for bursaries for transport and course fees for 20 young, talented musicians in 2020. As we reach musicians from across South Africa and from all backgrounds, not everyone can afford to join us, unless they have a little help.”
