National Children’s Theatre brings the musical Goggas

PARKTOWN – Most theatre lovers have already visited the National Children's Theatre for the launch of their musical, Goggas! The colourful play is set to be on show until the third week of December

Ever seen insects come to life? If not, then the National Children’s Theatre is where you should be this mid-November until the third week of December.

The theatre, based in Parktown, brings children from four years as well as parents and anyone else interested, a very colourful South African musical called Goggas! by Gillian Katz.

In the production, themes of friendship and loyalty are explored through humour and toe-tapping music.

The charming tale features popular sound-tracks that people of all ages can relate to and find themselves moving involuntarily too.

The musical promises to not only entertain but also educate about the environment, animal, plant life and all the wonderful aspects that make our country and ‘rainbow nation’ quite unique.

Play Plot

Lady Caroline, a beautiful British butterfly, has accidentally landed in South Africa where she meets Antic the picnic ant.

She begs him to help her find her way home and thus the adventure through the wonderful South African landscape begins.

On their journey, they meet local goggas like Lola the ladybird, Bumble bee, Hugo the ‘joller’ and various other colourful creatures.

Lady Caroline not only gets introduced to wonderfully typical South African creatures and characters but she also gets to sample some local delicacies like biltong and chakalaka.

She learns about the cultures and different languages and even manages to find friendship and love. How can she possibly want to return to London?
