Clean more, live longer

Housework and gardening are unexpected ways to prolong your life.

A recent study has now shown that household work is beneficial to a womans health.

Researchers from the University Medical Centre in Rotterdam found that house work would add on an extra three years to a womans life when it would only add on a year to a mans.

However, men benefit from gardening with it adding nearly three years to their life, where the activity has little to no effect on women.

The team discovered this through asking different lifestyle based questions to over 7 000 men and women and followed their behaviour for decades.

Leader of the team, Dr Klodian Dhana, said, “The differences may partly be explained by the fact that men are engaged in more gardening and women in domestic work.”
