Twins to launch new sounds

NEWTOWN – Sophiatown takes their music to the public.

Twin brothers Sibongiseni and Siyabonga Jwara from Newtown released their new single consisting of three songs, Pieces of love feat Moqoustic Mongz, Zanele and Afrika.

The multi-instrumentalists’ popular band called Sophiatown will be launching the single at Buffalo Bill Sports Bar near the Carlton Centre on 14 February.

Sibongiseni, also known as Tenor Chord, said their aim is to build a good and lasting relationship between Sophiatown and the public.

“We want to introduce our current project to the general public,” he said.

The pair are regarded as some of the best in the house music circle.

Sophiatown combines jazz, maskandi (Zulu folk music), RnB as well as ballad music.

The twins said they developed a love for music at an early age and they wrote their first song when they were only 12.

“Before getting it right, we produced several unsuccessful demo tapes,” said Sibongiseni.

They have participated in a number of live performances around South Africa as well as in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Namibia.
