Mary J Blige to replace Tamar Braxton at the BET

Multi-Grammy award winning R&B superstar Mary J Blige has been confirmed to perform at the Ticketpro Dome for the BET Experience Africa festival on 12 December.

Blige, who last performed in South Africa in 2007, will join Maxwell, Raphael Saadiq, and Young Thug on the same stage as African superstars AKA, Flavour and Diamond Platnumz at what is shaping up to be the lifestyle experience of the year.

Blige has sold over 50 million albums. With a track record of eight multi-platinum albums, nine Grammy Awards plus a staggering 30 nominations and four American Music Awards, Blige’s appearance at the BET Experience Africa will be nothing less than legendary. With her dazzling career spanning more than 20 years, Mary J Blige has released 11 studio albums and made over 150 guest appearances on other albums and soundtracks.

Tamar Braxton will not be able to attend the BET Experience Africa anymore owing to ill health. BET & Glen 21 Entertainment apologised for any disappointment caused, they hope that Braxton’s fans will recognise the importance of giving her the space and time to return to full health.

The BET Experience Africa provides the perfect kick-off to the summer season, taking over Johannesburg’s Ticketpro Dome for a non-stop, jam-packed entertainment fest to bring together lovers of urban culture and music. The BET Experience Africa will showcase great food, fashion, music, comedy, sport, sneakers and much more.

Ticket prices, which give access to all of the above, range from R750 on the mezzanine level, R1 150 for floor standing, R1 250 for floor bleachers and Golden Circle at R1 500. Students qualify for a 10 per cent discount by logging in to the Ticketpro website and using the passcode ‘Student’.
