Wondering how to entertain yourself this coming weekend in the City of Gold? Here is a list of activities to keep you buzzing.

Ivan Mazuze

If you are a jazz fan be sure to make your way down to The Orbit October in Braamfontein on 9 October. At 8.30pm you can relax to the smooth and soothing saxophone sounds of Ivan Mazuze. The show costs R120 per person and tickets can be bought at the door.

Off-Shore Feat. Buddy Wells, Reza Khota and Martin Wolfaardt

Off-Shore Feat. Buddy Wells, Reza Khota and Martin Wolfaardt will be performing on 10 October at The Orbit Bistro in Braamfontein. The show starts at 8.30pm. Tickets at R120 are available at the door.

Dive into the dynamic world of gaming from 9 to 11 October at the Ticketpro Dome in North Riding. This is South Africa’s biggest gaming and technology expo. rAge Expo appeals to hard-core enthusiasts, newcomers, casual gamers, futurists and fundies. Tickets cost R100 per person or R250 for a weekend pass. Children under the age of six years are free. Tickets are available on the Ticketpro Dome website.

Sweeny Todd

From 9 October to 29 November the well-known suspense-thrilling and dark Sweeny Todd will perform at the Pieter Toerien’s Montecasino Theatre. The show is on Wednesdays to Fridays at 8pm; on Saturdays at 4pm and 8pm, and on Sundays at 3pm. Tickets are available on the Montecasino’s website.

Private Presley

From 9 to 25 October the Rock-n-roll Ballet will perform at the Joburg Theatre. The show is a salute to the late Elvis Presley. Some of his biggest hits such as Hound Dog, A Little Less Conversation, Jailhouse Rock and Blue Suede Shoes will be included in the dance acts. Ticket prices range between R100 to R250 depending on seat. The show starts at 8pm on 9 October and 3pm on 11 October.Tickets can be bought on the Joburg Theatre website.

Fill Up the Dome with Cassper Nyovest

On 31 October a line-up of various African Hip Hop acts will perform at Tickepro Dome in North Riding, and will be led by SA’s biggest hip hop artist Cassper Nyovest. Ny was born and raised in Mafikeng, the birthplace of Motswako Rap. This Rap form has brought to book, national artists like HHP and Khuli Chana. The gates will open at 1pm and the show starts at 3pm. Tickets cost R200 and Golden Circle tickets are R350. Tickets available on the Ticketpro Dome’s website.
