Choirs bring community together

NORTHCLIFF – Choirs congregate at the Dutch Reformed Church for the Aasvoëlkop’s Choir Festival.

The Dutch Reformed Church Aasvoëlkop held its Choir Festival at its church in Northcliff on 17 September. Youth leader Tarine de Riddler said that it was a wonderful opportunity for members of the community to appreciate the musical talent in their neighbourhood. “The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as families enjoyed dinner outside before the start of the event. One could hear musicians warming up while the Church was being readied for a spectacular performance,” De Riddler said.

The evening started with an enchanting performance from the Helpmekaar Kollege Orchestra, where a variety of choirs including, Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys, Helpmekaar Kollege,

4Forty, University of Johannesburg and Aasvoëlkop’s own choir performed. “We were also privileged to enjoy the talent of soloists Linelle Wimbles Engelbrecht and Lize-Mari Ellis,” De Riddler concluded.
