Dance sensation hits Joburg

BRAAMFONTEIN – Broadway success, 'Burn the Floor', comes to South Africa for a third time with some new additions.

International dance hit, Burn the Floor: Fire in the Ballroom, arrived in Joburg on 27 August.

The show is a frantic medley of ballroom, Latin and contemporary dance.

Choreographers Jason Gilkison and Peta Roby handpick dancers from all over the world to perform in the grueling production.

The show boasts incredible success, showcasing all over the world including Broadway and twice before in South Africa.

Now the show includes updated choreography to complement new songs and dancers.

South African addition, Johannes Radebe, joined the tour as it arrived from China.

“I’m surrounded by champions,” reflected Radebe, “It feels like everything I’ve done in my career so far, was leading up to this moment.”

Radebe is no stranger to success himself.

Like the rest of the dancers he is extremely accomplished.

Radebe has won the South African National Title for Latin dance and recently became runner-up for the South African Strictly Come Dancing.

“The focus from the dancers is unbelievable,” said Radebe. “Everyone [the dancers] is an inspiration.”

Burn the Floor: Fire in the Ballroom will be featuring at the Joburg Theatre from 16 September until 3 October.
