MOVIE REVIEW: Minions

Finally one of the most anticipated family movies the Minions has made it to the big screens.

For those who are not familiar with the Minions, they are the little yellow banana-loving henchmen from the Despicable Me franchise.

The Plot: The movie which was directed by Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin starts off by showing the little yellow, gibberish-speaking Minions’ journey through time and where they originate from, which is the ocean, and their search for masters to serve.

While living in an ice cave, the gibberish-speaking Minions continually serve the most despicable of masters. However, they are unsuccessful at keeping these masters. With no master to serve, they are depressed, but one of them called Kevin quickly gets an idea to save his kind by searching for a new master.

However, Kevin couldn’t go on the search alone so he recruits Minions Stuart and Bob, and during their exciting journey they land at the Villain-Con where they discover their potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock).

The Good: This is the kind of movie that definitely knows how to entertain young ones. Parents may also enjoy watching it. The Minions are cute, so amusing and always cheerful.

The Bad: Jokes were thrown in, here and there, but I honestly did not laugh out loud. It was interesting that it was for the whole family to enjoy, but for me, it just didn’t stand out enough to laud. At the end of the Minions I felt that I had seen a perfectly good movie, but it was definitely something I would forget I watched.
