Marion Holm set to entertain audiences in Johannesburg
FOURWAYS – Comedian Marion Holm is set to leave audiences in stitches with her latest one-woman show 'Marion Holm vir Beginners'.
South African actress and comedian Marion Holm is set to perform her latest one-woman show entitled Marion Holm Vir Beginners which is set to open at Montecasino, Fourways, from 15 July.
Holm spoke about her career and where it all started. Originally born and raised in the Western Cape, she explained that she studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch.
Holm explained that comedy has always been part of her life. “When I started creating my own work, I was forced to use my strongest point and that was comedy,” she said.
Even though comedy came easy for Holm, she still warned that having a healthy balance between one’s personal and professional life is essential. “When you work for yourself you hardly ever take leave, because you simply cannot say no to work. For the rest I think I have reached a quiet and natural balance in my life, especially now that I am 50.”
Holm explained that her latest show, Marion Holm vir Beginners is the first time that she will perform a highlight run from her previous shows and this year marks her 12th one-woman show. It will also be the first time that Holm will perform in Johannesburg.
She was grateful toward her supporters, “I do not take it for granted and am truly thankful that I have a career in acting,” she said.
Marion Holm Vir Beginners will run from 15 July to 9 August at The Pieter Toerien Studio Theatre at Montecasino.
