François is to set the silver screen ablaze

MELVILLE – Actor François Jacobs reflects on his acting career.

Actor and Melville resident Francois Jacobs is a man of many talents, and he has made a significant impact on the South African television and film industry.

Reflecting on his career, Jacobs said he always had a great love for the craft of acting.

He said he developed an appreciation for it at a very early stage in his life and eventually pursued a degree in it.

“I grew up watching so many shows, that I decided to make it my life calling. I studied theatre at Stellenbosch University and obtained my BA degree in drama,” explained Jacobs.

He added that keeping a balance between acting and his personal life has never been a challenge for him in any sense and that his passion has seen him through that balance, “If it’s your passion, you find ways to make the tough times work,” he said.

He describes his proudest moment in his career as being part of one of South Africa’s biggest Afrikaans drama series called Donkerland and producing his own film called Damduikers, Díe Damduikers.

Jacobs will be portraying the role of Tyres in the upcoming Afrikaans motion picture Hollywood in my huis and described his character. “Tyres is a school bully. Although he has a soft and gentle side to him, he tries to act tough by making others miserable. The reason for this is his great love for a girl in school called Karma, who he struggles to impress.”

Jacobs concluded that he would still want to produce more of his own work and that his advice for aspiring actors would be to work hard.

“And when you think you have… work even harder! You can never stop polishing you craft,” he concluded.

Hollywood in my huis is set to open at cinemas nationwide on 26 June.
