Artists through expression exhibit

BERARIO – Artists' programme "Art through expression" showcase their latest artwork at a special exhibition.

Local artists’ programme Art through expression hosted an exhibition entitled Speaking of Paint at the Berario Recreation Centre on 8 May till 10 May.

The exhibition saw members of the art programme showcase their latest artwork to attending community members.

There were two parts to the exhibition. The first part consisted of contemporary themes encompassing paintings from members of the programme, while the second part involved a conceptual theme entitled Oh what a tangled web we weave when…. These included multi-media installations, paintings, sculptures, pottery and pewter work, with some interesting interpretations.

Teacher and artist, Noreen Beets was excited at the opportunity to showcase her work and that of her student’s to the larger community. “I have hosted these interactive art classes at the Berario Recreation Centre for the last seven years. My students range from 16 to 81 years, from beginners to advanced. I am extremely proud of the calibre of work produced by my students at this exhibition,” she said.

Beets explained that the programme encourages students to experiment. “We create art in different media including charcoal, ink, pastels, water-colour, acrylic and oil paint. Each artist explores his/her creative expression which leads to a wide variety of artwork,” she said.

Beets was very thankful towards the recreation centre for hosting the exhibition. “Berario Recreation Centre serves as an integral community centre for multi-disciplines which includes a remedial school, kick-boxing, gymnastics, art programmes, pottery, various dance disciplines, a competitions venue, martial arts and a senior citizens gym,” she said.
