JOBURG – If you couldn’t stop tapping your feet or singing along to the songs in the first movie, then get ready for the second installment of

Pitch Perfect in 2015. I am not a big musical fan and although I thought the first movie was average, I thoroughly enjoyed Pitch Perfect 2. There was definitely more script and dialogue, and substantial background to the continuing story of the Barden Bella group.

The Plot: Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick reprise their roles with the rest of the Barden Bellas. After being humiliated in front of the president of the United States, the group is taken out of the Aca-Circuit competition. In a bid to redeem themselves, they enter a worldwide competition that no American group has ever won.

To complete this task, the girls need to strengthen their bonds of friendship and sisterhood.

The Good: Rebel Wilson is a natural comedienne, and to see her tackle more screen time is great for the production. Wilson has the kind of spunky confidence that will leave you believing you are destined for stardom. She is spunky and quick with her one-liners, basically she is the ‘we all have that friend’ character. The movie is funny, sweet and delivers on loads of great songs.

The Bad: The plot was rather predictable and there were a few cast members who were not as strong, such as Adam DeVine. While I enjoyed the production, I would not necessarily queue up at the movies to go and see it.

Verdict: If you loved the fist offering of Pitch Perfect then why not make 15 May a girls night out to the cinemas. I do, however, think waiting for it on DVD or Netflix will be just as rewarding. It will be less awkward when you start singing and dancing along.

If you still need convincing, you can go ahead and check out the trailer for yourself:
