Women Crush Wednesday: Miss Kay

Miss Kay (real name is Kayla Neilson) is back again with a whopping single Party in My Head featuring Emeegee and Blayze.

The local artist, who hails from Albertsville, is pulling all the right moves.

Since she started her music career at the age of 12, Miss Kay has never stopped impressing.

She is a singer and songwriter who is devoted to the creation and expression of music. And, her passion and desire to grow, oozes confidence.

“Knowing that I have the potential to make it keeps me going all the time. [It] keeps me hungry,”she said,

“My love for music and wanting to become an artist and having a manager, who wholeheartedly believed in me, helped me begin my journey,” she added.

In 2012, Neilson’s first single – which is a poppy, urban dance track called Candyman – gave her the recognition she deserves.

Having worked with numerous producers, Neilson’s music proves to be evolving, creating a sound that overcomes all barriers.

Her new single is what dreams are made of.

“I love the feel of the song, and of course the response from everyone…” she said.

“The ultimate goal is to release the album soon. Right now I’m focusing on solidifying my sound, releasing singles and videos and performing in the interim.”

The songstress said when she performs, the only thing that comes to mind is making those who believe in her proud.

“I look forward to the reaction on my teams’ faces when I get a great response during a performance. It really means so much to me. Proving that our hard work wasn’t for nothing.”

She added, “I literally envision a stadium filled up with excited fans, crazy stage set-ups, lights, the whole package.”

Neilson advised those yearning to be in the music industry to be absolutely certain about what it is they want in life.

“Every decision you make has a definite effect on your life. Plan and stay true to your craft, your dreams, your vision and most importantly to yourself,” she said.
