UJ’s rappers are ‘Joburg’s finest’

AUCKLAND PARK - The King of Campus rapper was crowned in Auckland Park, and it was 'crazy fun.'

94.7’s Producer Brad Rap Battle final saw Joburg’s most explosive campus rappers battling each other at 44th on Stanley’s beer garden on 20 August.

The Breakfast Xpress’ Producer Brad has been hunting for the hottest unknown rapper in Joburg. Sixteen finalists from Wits and UJ (Kingsway and Soweto campuses) rap-battled it out for a spot on the I Heart Joburg Day stage on September 13.

UJ (Kingsway Campus’s) Mag onem took top honours with his poignant words and his cool rhythm. He faced off in a final rap battle with fellow UJ Kingswayer Timmy Italian.

Both Mag and Timmy Italian will reportedly have their chance on stage at I Heart Joburg.

The mood was relaxed, drinks were flowing, the crowd in the small beer garden was bopping and the music was inspiring.

“Timmy was awesome,” event attendee Tammy Grant reported.

“But that guy (Mag) just blew us away. Producer Brad’s rapping was whacked too.”

South African superstar AKA (Kiernan Jordan Forbes) closed off the show with aptly chosen song Congratulate.

“It’s crazy fun just to express myself, yeah, yeah,” Timmy Italian half-rapped in when asked about the event.

“This is cool.”

It is, yeah.
